Bardia was built on the old Ingleburn army camp, and its street map still reads like a service record: Tobruk Street, Alamein Street, Kapyong Street and Long Tan Street, beside lanes named Infantry, Signals, Ordnance and Medic. For a learner, the useful fact is the suburb's shape. Bardia is a long strip, under three kilometres end to end, held between Campbelltown Road and the Hume Motorway, and the Edmondson Park test centre at Ed Square is just over Campbelltown Road. Few suburbs put the test centre this close to home.

Named lanes for slow, careful driving
Bardia has 28 named lanes alongside its streets, among them Provost Lane, Raeme Lane, Service Corps Lane and Infantry Lane. They are narrow and close in, which makes them good ground for crawling-speed control, precise positioning and the habit of watching for a car pulling out, once a learner is comfortable on wider streets such as Bruce Ferguson Avenue, the longest residential street in the suburb.
Four roundabouts along Bardia Avenue
Bardia Avenue has roundabouts at Vevi Street, Derna Street and MacDonald Road, and a fourth where it meets Borneo Street and Ingleburn Gardens Drive. One run along the avenue gives a learner four roundabouts, each with a different approach, which is the repetition that give-way judgement needs. Ingleburn Gardens Drive adds a fifth at Nash Street and Noble Street.
The Bardia Public School zone
Bardia Public School sits close to MacDonald Road and Arthur Allen Drive, and the corner of those two roads is controlled by traffic lights. Lessons at school times combine a school zone, a signalised intersection and students crossing within a short distance of each other, which is a demanding mix for a newer learner and good preparation for the busier streets around Ed Square.
Five sets of lights onto Campbelltown Road
Campbelltown Road runs along the edge Bardia shares with Edmondson Park, and the suburb's streets meet it at traffic lights: Ray Simpson Avenue, MacDonald Road, Borneo Street, Ingleburn Gardens Drive and Soldiers Parade, which leads into Ed Square. Campbelltown Road is where lessons practise lane choice on a multi-lane road, turning right at signals with oncoming traffic, and the approach into the test-centre precinct itself.
The Hume Motorway on the far side
The Hume Motorway runs along Bardia's other long edge, separating it from Macquarie Links and Glenfield. It is the last stage of a learner's progression, practised only once speed control, mirror checks and head checks are completely reliable.
